Professional Experience / Education

Supervise and care for 3200 dairy herd as well as a 200-bull unit, ranging in age batches from three to six months. Conduct rapid tests for SCSS and send swabs and tissue samples for CVRL ISO 17025 & OIE to reference laboratory for confirmation. Treat neonatal diarrhoea and other diseases caused due to BRD, CPA and cryptosporidiosis. Collate sera samples for cross-sectional study in partnership with the veterinary medicine department. Catalogue morbidity, mortality, post-mortem records with causative agents. Administer LSD, BRD, BEF, BVD, Leptospirosis, Rotavec and Brucellosis vaccines to herds. • Promoted from herd health department supervisor to unit manager. • Increased daily gain in young stock unit and reduced calf/cow mortality rate. • Introduced new hoof trimming program and implemented routine foot pathing for adult cows and heifers. • Minimized outbreaks of multiple farm diseases, including lumpy skin, pasteurellosis, BRD, coccidial diarrhoea, necrobacillosis, IBK, and Q-fever. • Founded new method to treat mastitis, increasing milk production which, in turn boosted revenue. • Successfully managed February 2022 outbreak of blood parasite red water disease with minimal loses.
